It’s been too long.
But today, I write to you from a place of clarity - both physically and mentally. Sitting between the mountains and the sea in Benicàssim (Spain), I finally understand the path ahead.
How did I get here? In December I made a choice to walk away from my main role. Not to escape, but to create. My goal was to slow down and write the first draft of my book. Three months later, I know I made the right decision. Teaching me entirely new sides of myself, giving me the space to design a life aligned with my uniqueness, the time away has even left me enough room to write the first 25,000 words that are being reviewed by my friends right now.
In two days time everything changes.
I head back to the UK to fully embrace the person I’ve spent my entire life becoming. But this time, it’s different. I’m not just making another career move. I’m betting on who I truly am. In the past I’ve made decisions knowing I could pivot, experiment, or try something new if it didn’t work. But this time it feels heavier. Like it’s woven into my identity in a way that makes putting it out there feel infinitely bigger than before.
I’m talking about undefinable life design.
The name of the book I’m writing, the newsletter you’re reading and the vision I have for how I’m uniquely positioned to help others.
My journey here
Three years ago I started this newsletter as a way to hit publish on everything I’d learnt about mastering myself. Part actionable advice and part reflective diary, the accountability of writing weekly became something much bigger than I realised at the time: an opportunity to hone my craft of using language to bring my ideas to life. As I experimented with new topics, introduced co-authors and published over 100 posts I got clear on who I wanted to help.
Two years ago I realised after much reflection that I had a unique opportunity to bring the readers of this newsletter together for in-person experiences. Included in the list were the best individuals I’d met from the many groups I’d been a part of. I knew that cross-pollinating them together into a single tribe was my opportunity to provide an intimate space that we could all call home. After a launch event in March 2023 with 35 members, the foundations were built for what would grow into the undefinable community. What followed were months of events, conversations and learnings that helped me get clear on how exactly I could help the undefinable to design a life aligned to their uniqueness.
One year ago I understood how everything I was already doing could be brought together into a singular direction. No longer would my identity and interests pull me across so many competing paths. I defined my Golden Thread as “helping those who intentionally live beyond conventional labels to design their life for uniqueness”. Which gave me complete clarity in where I was going. Pursuing only the Value Streams that brought me a step closer were worth doing and everything else was to be ignored. I stopped writing here. And instead, I reinvested the time into the community I was growing, the career I was building and the book that I’d started writing.
Now I know how I will help others. Each day I am stepping into becoming the fullest expression of my uniqueness and I am certain in how my life design model can help others to do the same. The book’s first draft is complete, the community’s value proposition is clear and the vision for how I want to design my own life lives rent free in my head every day. It feels like behind me I have the shadows of support - the people, experiences, and lessons that have shaped me. And ahead of me I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - my vision of what’s possible if I stay the course.
My undefinable vision
I believe in a world where success isn’t a box we should fit into. It’s a path we create for ourselves. A world where we design our lives to evolve as we do. Where we no longer feel the pressure to be just one thing, but instead embrace the full range of who we are.
This is why I created undefinable life design.
As a way to combine your unique set of experiences, skills and perspectives into art that will change the lives of others. More than just a model, a newsletter, a book or a community, I see it as a movement that can help you to integrate work and life in a way most aligned to yourself.
To get there my three long-term focuses are ‘intimate spaces’, ‘meaningful careers’ and ‘flexible organisations’. The first is the undefinable community, which I have committed to growing as a non-profit through in-person events around chapter hubs like London. The second is the book, newsletter and coaching on life design that is my current focus. And the third is the organisational design and speaking gigs that I see as being the most impactful part of my next 3 to 5 years.
My next steps
As I step back into the UK from the slow life of Spain I am committing to doing everything I can to bring this vision to reality. First by taking on enough aligned work that allows me to reinvest into everything I’m building. And secondly by treading the forever fine line between purpose and profit as I balance my short-term needs with society’s long-term interests.

If you believe you are also an undefinable who intentionally lives beyond conventional labels and believes in the future I’m building here’s how I can help you:
1) Life design coaching - 1:1 sessions to guide social entrepreneurs to design a life aligned to their uniqueness. I help them to build income streams that deliver on their purpose while achieving financial success along the way.
2) Chief of staff - strategic support to free overwhelmed experts from their busy work. As a trusted right-hand, I help them scale their impact without the long hours, constant context-switching and endless to-do lists.
3) Keynote speaking - presentations of my undefinable life design model to help progressive leaders engage their team at work. I teach audiences how to leverage their uniqueness to align their career with who they truly are.
If this resonates with you, let’s talk.
Whether you’re ready to redesign your life, free yourself from busy work, or lead with your uniqueness, I’d love to help you succeed.
Or if you’re still discovering who you are as an undefinable then you can register your interest to join our community’s intimate spaces.
What this means for you
Going forward, I will be writing monthly newsletters here. In them I will help you to embrace your Many Interests, become Semi-Professional, identify your Golden Thread and create the great work that will become your Magnum Opus. All with the goal of creating multiple Value Streams that reflect who you are and evolve as you do.
I will also be tying in updates on my book and keeping you up to do date with my progress. If you’d like to read an early version of the undefinable life design book then please send me an email (charlie@undefinable.co.uk). Over the next few months I’m looking for ‘beta-readers’ to read a second and third draft in return for feedback.
Thank you again for all your support. It means a lot.
Now onto the next chapter.
